Te extrano – Extreme

24 Apr

Here’s another song we’ve practiced in class! My students LOVE this song, and we practice our Bachata moves with it. The verses are a little quick, but they can sing the chorus pretty easily.

Bailando – Enrique Iglesias

24 Apr

My Students and I have been practicing this song. It’s super fun and a little fast for Spanish 3/4 students. I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone under Level III or immature classes, because it has a pretty adult theme to it. I have found some resources online that suggest using the lyrics as a cloze activity, and having students fill in the cognates that they hear. We just did it for fun trying to get them to speak and practice it a little more, and they’re already pretty familiar with the song so they enjoyed it. Let me know if you have any other suggestions as to how you would use it in your classes!

Mi Vida Loca

This site has a great miniseries called “Mi Vida Loca”. Here’s a quick synopsis of the story: You travel to Madrid to meet up with your friend, Theresa, however she can’t make it and leaves you the keys to her flat. When you get there, you realize that her sister, Merche, is living there and she becomes your impromptu host. You soon realize that Merche is a journalist, investigating some pretty intimidating people. Your relaxing holiday quickly turns into a mystery to figure out what Merche is investigating and following her around Spain.

This series shows a LOT about Spanish culture and takes you to Madrid, the countryside, and the canary islands. There are also print outs for vocabulary to practice with your students, and the series pauses so the students can practice what they have learned in each scenario. It’s a really great series, and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone that teaches Spanish!

Mi Casa Ideal

27 Jan

¡Hola!

1. For this project, I want to know what your ideal house would look like. Write ten or more sentences describing your house. These can include (but are not limited to):

  • How many rooms would your house have?
  • Where would it be located?
  • What color would it be?
  • Would it be large or small?
  • What type of rooms would it have?
  • Who would live there?
  • Would you have any pets?

Do not use the same verb (for example: ser) for each of these sentences.

2. The second step in this project is to visually represent your dream home. You may use a poster board to create a collage, painting, drawing, etc. or create your dream home online using house design programs. Be sure that your dream home reflects what you have written in your description.

3. When you have finished the description and visual representation, you will present your dream home to the class. Please memorize the qualities of your house so you are not just reading your paper.

4. Get creative!
